US midterms: money pours in as campaigns enter final weeks
A New York Times report says Elon Musk has given $366 million to Republican causes this cycle.
With less than a month to go before the US midterm elections in November, spending by big donors has hit eye-catching levels. According to a New York Times report, Elon Musk has contributed about $366 million to Republican groups and causes in the 2025-26 cycle, including $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund over the summer.
Several Senate contests have tightened in recent polls, and party committees are moving millions of dollars into close races. The results will decide control of Congress for the second half of the presidential term.
